Santa's here!

Santa is finally here!  I love this picture of them first greeting Santa.  Loving how Maysie is tiptoeing right out of her shoes!

They love him so much!

Carlea had a lot to tell him!

And Maysie too!

Rainy Mondays...July 19, 2010

Playing inside can be a lot of fun! for them.  Ha for me it was a bit of work cleaning up and stuff....

No, really, it was fun.  We got out the collection of Playhut Playhouses and tunnels.  Of course, Scott and I crawled around too.  Also did lots of cleaning and organizing and I am not looking forward to Scott going back to work tomorrow.  This summer went by too fast!

Cass Park: July 18, 2010

Fun day at Cass Park today. The kids were disappointed that they didn't get a chance to swim yesterday so we promised them some water time today. They picked out some floaty-type bathing suits before we left and I thought nothing of it...until we got there and realized that they are not allowed. We talked with the head guard and he finally let us stay but only in the baby pool. That was fine with us. It was perfect for the kids to romp around and practice swimming. They played a game they made up of hiding their sunglasses in the water and then having to find them. They played this over and over and over for HOURS!!! It's amazing what will keep them occupied. They actually got everyone else in the little pool to play with them. It was a good day. I'm getting a little anxious because I'll be leaving in just over a week and I'm not ready to leave the girls yet. I feel like my summer is just being cut too short!

Schroeder Family Reunion: July 17, 2010

My mother’s family (all her siblings & their families) have a reunion each year in July. This tradition has been in place since I was 3 years old! Usually I am unable to go because I am off in SIG world and don’t have the weekends off. My mom had eight siblings and besides her only one other has passed on. The oldest in her family is 95 this year and I think 4 of them are in their nineties. My mom was the seventh child, like me. I love seeing everyone in my extended family, but I also like seeing everyone in my family (my brothers and sisters). I don’t live so close to the core group so for me it’s a real treat to see my kids playing with heir cousins and second cousins. Carlea and Maysie LOVE their cousins. And they tell me all the time.

This year there was the Schroeder American Idol and my kids got up and sang twinkle twinkle little Star in front of the 65 guests. It amazes me that they have no problem getting up there and performing. Anytime, anywhere, they are up for it!
And they won.  I'm sure it was the cuteness factor!

They loved meeting everyone and had a good time eating the candy that fell from the pinata! Looking forward to next year's party already!

Jenkinson's Beach: July 16, 2010

The family got up early today to head out to Jenkinson's Beach on the Jersey Shore.  Unfortunately,  I forgot that I had a phone conference scheduled and spent a good hour and a half in the car conferencing.  It was an uneventful ride (only 1.5 hours from my Dad's House) and we were on the beach by noon.

Maysie was at first a bot scared of the waves, but she got over it and really loved jumping them as they came in.  Carlea loved the water from the moment she stepped in and we had to practically drag her away when we had to leave.  They collected shells, built sand castles and tasted the salty water.  Their squeals of laughter brought a lot of smiles to Scott and my face.

As we got there we forgot the sun block and had to buy some.  For a mere $20 we were able to protect ourselves from the sun.  $15 parking, $8 umbrella, and and $3 a piece for beach access.  The kids were free.  So after $49 we were settled on the beach.  That doesn't include the gas....

At lunch we got some drinks. fries, a hot dog, sausage thing and a grilled cheese.....$42!

Then we decided to go to the Aquarium: $20 ($10 for each adult)

Dinner: one slice of pizza that the girls split $4.50, juice $2, a dozen clams $14, and a soda that Scott and I split $2

Boardwalk rides-- luckily it was wristband night-- woot.  $15 a piece.  (Carlea rode her first big roller caoster and loved it!)  So the day ran us a bit over $178.50---  amazing!  The girls had a great time and I am glad that we went, but why does it always have to be so expensive.

Which reminds me, why are the movies so expensive and when they have to charge over $10 for a 2 (maybe) hour show, shouldn't the food be free????

Thankful Thursday: July 15, 2010

Today I am thankful:

Family: daughters, husband, pets, sisters, parents, brothers.  Keeps my life interesting and fun!

Friends:  It has been such a lovely summer spending some time with some lovely friends.

Nap time and bed time: When the day is done, this is my favorite time to just relax and enjoy some surfing! (on the net that is.)

What are you thankful for?

Yaman Park: July 14, 2010

My kids LOVE the beach!  It was hard to pull them away today.

When we got at Yaman Beach in Cortland, the sky was just clearing from a small shower that sprung up on our way there.  To our surprise the lifeguards had closed the beach because they said they heard "distant thunder".  So when that happens they are required to shut the swimming area down for 30 minutes.  By the time we got there, the sky was a brilliant blue without a cloud in sight, but they refused to allow anyone on the beach!  We came back thirty minutes later to find them playing cards and we were told that they would open after "this hand".  How crazy is that?  10 minutes after that I finally said to them that they needed to open the area because a lot of people were waiting (about 30) and reluctantly they did.  BUT they grumbled, made comments and were VERY unprofessional.  So I'm on a search for somebody I can talk to about this--

Despite the guard's stupid behavior, we had a good time.  Our friends Ryan and Kevin came a long and it made the afternoon that much sweeter.

Bye Bye, Mimi, Popsyboy and Aunt Becky: July 13, 2010

Today was a very sad day for all of us.  Mimi and Popsyboy headed home to Arkansas with Becky this morning.  It left us all melancholy and sad for the rest of the day.  We all took naps and just hung around the house.  By evening we were all feeling a little bit better- enough to go to Southworth Library for storytime.  I love this library!  They do such wonderful activities for young kids.  Tonight's story was read by the Dryden Elementary Principal, Mr. David Thon.  He was great!  It was nice to go and sit out on the lawn and feel a little better from the sadness of the day.  Carlea cried so much when her grandparents left.

Skaneateles Lake: July 12, 2010

What a nice day for a boat ride!  Mimi, Popsyboy, Aunt Becky, and the fam took a nice afternoon cruise on Skaneateles Lake after lunch at the Inn and learned about all of the AMAZING houses along the lakeside.  They are gorgeous.  Then we spent  a bit of time wandering around the town stopping in many of the shops that lined the streets.  We found this amusing little bench and of course, took many photos.  We noticed that the parking meters were made in Russellville, Arkansas so we had Mimi pose by one.  Funny that she traveled all the way from Russellville, AR to see something in NY that was made there.  I like the picture because even though we were trying to take her picture, we ended up getting quite a few of us in it through the reflection in her sunglasses.

Purse exchange - July 11, 2010

Today my MIL,  SIL and I went to a purse exchange party.  Kind of an interesting concept ~ bring a purse or wallet and trade for one.  We submitted two purses and got a lottery number (random) so when our numbers were called we went up to the table to pick out a purse.  I love the concept and started thinking about all the cool stuff we could trade...kitchen stuff, jewelry, gift cards, chores, crafts...hmmm I might see a party coming on-- and a bonus was that what ever wasn't picked went to the Battered Women's Shelter!

Here's Mimi just enjoying the time with Carlea.  We will miss Mimi and Pops when they go on Tuesday.  It has been such a special time for Carlea and Maysie to spend time with their Grandparents.  Skyping is fun and keeps us updated, but there is nothing like real time with real people.

Am I a bit tipsy from our wine tasting today? Where did these photos come from? July 10, 2010

We had a fantastic time today as we traveled to Penn Yan for a little bit of shopping (thanks for the suggestion, Brian).  Stopped by a winery for some tastings and had dinner at the boatyard on the way home.

Mimi enjoyed getting a new hat!

Dinner at the Boatyard was delicious as usual!  Yum Yum Sizzling Cookie!!

As I was downloading today's pictures, I came across some really really wierd doll pictures.  They are kinda freaking me out.....what were these from and why is my sister and neighbors posing with them??!!
